Recently, working remotely is now the new cool in today’s society, the COVID-19 pandemic redirected the focus of people to realize that working remotely or having a remote workspace can still aid productivity efficiently and smoothly. Having in mind that a remote workforce is a group of people working for an organization off-site. They don’t necessarily come into the office or work in a confined space every day.

Being productive is setting a goal and achieving that given goal. As a brand, you set out to be the best content provider in the media world. Getting the necessary gear that you will need to achieve this, and using that to achieve that goal is being productive. Security is knowing you and your workforce can operate efficiently without any breach of privacy or compromise of critical information because you have a secure server or system.

With the rate at which companies are going remote, there is the need to highlight strategic ways through which the same level of productivity being achieved when everyone works in the office can also be achieved when people work from home. We have therefore identified four key strategies for enhancing productivity and security for your remote workforce;

1. Recruiting A Workforce That Understands The Company’s Vision And Mission

Recruiting a workforce that understands the vision and mission of the company is key. Ensuring that your workers understand what the company/brand is trying to achieve and what they stand for. For instance, if the company is an entertainment and lifestyle brand, the content produced should depict this at all times. Doing this creates consistency and enables your target audience to rely on you to always deliver in that particular niche.

Again, if the company is a news and politics brand, the content being produced should be in tandem with this aspect of the brand. There will be a problem when the content being created by a brand doesn’t conform to its intended ideals, vision, and mission. Having a workforce is not just about having people who can work but people who will serve as the brand’s face, voice, and body in every ramification.

This is a very important strategy because, firstly, the writing styles for an entertainment-based company differ from that of a politically based brand. The kind of ideas, target audience and priority in terms of content will also differ. So, recruiting and imbibing in your workforce the understanding of what the company stands for, its target audience, and what the company hopes to achieve via every content that is being put out is very important.

2. Provision Of The Necessary Working Equipment/Gadgets

Then the second strategy after you’ve been able to recruit a workforce that understands the vision and mission of the company is the provision of the necessary equipment and gadgets that will be needed. Now, having a remote workforce means there’s usually little or no supervision. Therefore, working equipment like laptops and necessities like data should be provided. These are key essentials that should be provided for your remote workforce.

Also, going as far as ensuring they have electricity to work with. Some remote workers work from home, while others go to workstations; ensuring that whichever medium your workforce adopts, they are comfortable goes a long way. Provision of these facilities creates room for your workforce to have security, and they can be very productive because it’s funny how in some situations.

You have some remote workers complaining that they don’t have lights, that’s why they couldn’t deliver a particular article or content; to remove every excuse and avenues through which your workers will complain, especially when they are working remotely, makes this strategy key. To an extent, their output can be controlled because everybody is in their own space when they work remotely.

The output of your workforce is something that you need to be conscious of to ensure that it is controlled the same way it is controlled when they are working in a confined space.

3. Catering For The Welfare And Well-being Of Your Remote Workforce

Ensuring the welfare and well-being of your workforce is paramount because the truth is, a troubled mind is less productive compared to a mind that is at peace and calm. A workforce that comprises mentally, emotionally, and physically fit workers will go far compared to a workforce that is otherwise. This can be achieved by creating a flexible and accommodating working relationship, which aids team spirit.

As a worker, it is a nice feeling to know that as you put in your best and go all out for your company, your company can do the same for you. Organizing training, and team bonding exercises, which could be via zoom, Google meet, etc., helps to foster this kind of healthy environment. By doing this, workers can rob minds, bring in new ideas for the betterment of the brand, and even take the brand closer to achieving its set out goals and new goals.

Some companies even provide HMO for their workers, giving them levels at certain times, allowances, etc. Words of affirmation and appreciation are also welcomed in this case.

4. Have A Working Structure/Template

Finally, having a working structure/template creates balance. Now, this is very important because having a remote workforce means that there is little or no supervision, and there is a large dependence on online communication, meaning very minimized face-to-face communication. As a remote workforce, there should be a style, a unique manner of delivery, and carrying out task that makes you stand out in a crowd.

Creating a working structure/template where everyone knows this is what is going out at this time, this is the number of content to be put out daily, this is who I report to, this is what I am to do when faced with difficulties work-wise, etc. gives a form of structure for people to conform and adhere to easily. This strategy also minimizes some issues that might arise because everyone knows the given target, what they are working towards, and how it needs to be achieved.

Also, that guiding force governs what is meant to be done day in, day out. A remote workforce that adopts this strategy will be highly productive and have that sense of security.

Conclusion

Once you’ve been able to recruit a group of workers that understand the vision and mission of the company, equip them with the necessary gadgets that they will need, going ahead to ensure that their welfare and well-being are treated as key and paramount. Then provide them with a working structure/template as a remote workforce.

Having a remote workforce tends to help brands grow financially, be more creative because remote working is dependent on the use of technology. With the rate at which the world is going digital, a remote working company is definitely on the right track. With all these in place, there is no how you won’t have productivity and security, which will, in turn, aid the growth, speed, delivery, finesse, and prosperity of the brand effortlessly.
